Furry Film Festival (F3) launches official video series, reveals special guest judge

by Patch O'Furr

Immigrants are seeking asylum. There’s an ominous threat of war. Is this the regular news?

No, it’s science fiction about furries landing on earth, created especially for the Furry Film Festival (announced here in March). The event is landing in Utah in late 2019. But today you can watch the F3 Official Series, Episode 1: ‘Provenance’, just released by film maker and event organizer ChronoWolf.

Furry fandom has great power to gain attention (as seen with billionaires wanting to get in the party… can we trade Elon Musk for space furries?) But it’s still a very niche indie community for creative production. There aren’t big budgets or sponsors for new events outside of the con box. The community is still reaching the potential to support an ongoing film festival.  Is it ready for the first one?

ChronoWolf thinks so. He’s been working hard to make the vision real. It’s counting on other film makers, supporters, and you. If you know any furry film makers, tell them about it. If you want to be one, join the Telegram group that has writers, editors, music video makers, and tech helpers looking to team up.

Here’s the reveal:

INTRODUCING OUR FIRST ANNOUNCED SPECIAL GUEST JUDGE FOR THE FURRY FILM FESTIVAL – FREDDIE WONG!

Freddie Wong has developed a strong foothold in the video, film and online entertainment industry. Having started out as an uploader of comedic video-game related content to his YouTube channel, he gained notoriety after making videos featuring the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Kevin Pollak, John Favreau, and more.

In 2011 he formed his studio, the now immensely popular ‘RocketJump’ alongside his partners Matt Arnold and Desmond “Dez” Dolly. The team was responsible for their work on the popular online and Netflix series ‘Video Game High School’. During this 3-season series, Freddie worked alongside many noteworthy actors, including Zachary Levi (from the TV series ‘Chuck’, and the newly released movie ‘Shazam!’), and his brother Jimmy Wong (recently cast in the live action version of ‘Mulan’). The series also featured cameo appearances from Stan Lee, Conan O’Brien, Tony Hawk, and more.

Freddie has since guest starred in, and collaborated with, the American Sketch Comedy series ‘Key & Peele’, and is currently working on two new series’ ‘Rocket Jump: The Show’ and ‘Dimension 404’.

We are honored to have Freddie on our judges’ panel and are excited to have him offer his feedback to our finalists!

In parallel with this announcement, F3 has released the first episode of the Official F3 Short Film Series, which features a cameo appearance from Freddie Wong. The official series is being created by the festival’s organizers with a goal of inspiring other furry filmmakers and potential contestants to embrace their own creativity and submit a film of their own!

There’s a cool space ship in the video. I’m on board with sharing more news about this event, and hope to see your work there too.
